The growing popularity of cellular phones

The creation of technological advances has made communication easier and more convenient on our part. People used to think that the telephone was the ultimate invention in terms of advance communication but then the information age has brought with it the internet and the mobile phone which makes us wonder of what would be coming next in the near future.

In today’s modern age, one cannot count the many ways that we could communicate with other people. Long gone were the days when we had to make our calls at home or at work through the use of the telephone. Even if you are on the street, on the bus, or on top of the Empire State Building you can literally call anybody or receive calls for that matter.

It has been observed that there has been a significant growth in the number of cellular phone users all over the world. Millions worldwide use this device as their main mode of communication to keep in touch with family, friends and people at work.

The growing popularity of cellular phones is due to the fact that they are wireless, light weight and very practical. It allows people to make calls and be called from literally anywhere (within the network coverage area of course). Some phones can have batteries with standby time of up to a week and talk time of several hours even up to a day.

When the very first cellular phones were created, they use to be heavy, bulky and had a short battery time. But now, we can find lots of cellular phones that are handy, slim, and small. They even come with ultra hip features that may include a built in MP3 player, built-in camera of up to 3 mega pixels, wireless access to the internet and a whole lot of other great features. We can even find GPRS and 3G technologies being used by cellular phone networks.

Before, only the affluent could afford to have a cellular phone because aside from the unit itself being expensive, availing of the mobile operator’s services were quite costly. But now, with the onset of many companies venturing into this industry and the creation of cheap and affordable mobile phones, cellular phones have been made more affordable.

The means of communication available has truly adapted to the ways of the modern people who are more mobile, outgoing and always on the run.
