The 5 ks of being a successful franchisor

The franchise business world is constantly changing as new opportunities are released every month to an already stretched market place. By utilising the 5Ks of being a successful franchisor it is possible to keep ahead of the competition.

The 5Ks for being a successful franchisor are:

Keep Communicating

Keep Supporting

Keep Innovating

Keep Investing

Keep Positive

Always refer to the 5Ks to ensure that the franchise offering is strong and remains competitive. They will also serve to ensure that the franchisees remain profitable in a more ruthless and overcrowded market place.

Keep communicating with the franchise network as a whole. Each one of the franchisees is bubbling over with ideas on how to improve the business model. They are invaluable when it comes to new ideas and ways to cut costs.

By having constant communication with the franchisees, many niggles in the franchise network can quickly be resolved before they turn into major problems. If problems are left to fester they can easily develop into major disputes!

Remember to also communicate with your customers who are the ultimate users of your products. Regular questionnaires and surveys will keep you abreast of the latest trends and behaviours of your consumers.

Keep supporting the franchisees especially the ones that are struggling. The franchise network is as strong as the weakest link! By providing constant support to the whole network the team will strengthen.

Many franchisors make the mistake of only supporting the best performing franchisees and leave the rest to get on with it! This is bad practice in my view as the support should be equal for all franchisees with a slight bias towards the franchisees that are having a difficult time making the business concept work for them.

Keep innovating to ensure that your franchise opportunity remains viable and profitable. Look at all facets of your business from recruitment, training, operators manual and products.

By constantly seeking innovations it is possible to keep one step ahead of the competitors. The image and brand will also be considerably enhanced further if the public and your franchisees are aware that innovations are constantly being introduced.

Remember to utilise the new mediums like online networks and video marketing to recruit the best franchisees and market your products.

Keep investing in the franchise network, brochures, advertising and training programmes. Never ever forget that new franchises are entering the market place. They are usually fronted by younger and more aggressive marketers who are eager to take a slice of your market share.

The advertising should reflect the latest trends and take into account the fact that consumers are constantly evolving. The public are now demanding safer products and are becoming more health conscious.

Keep positive and let everybody see and feel the enthusiasm from headquarters. This enthusiasm is catching and will filter down to most of your territories if managed correctly. In fact, some studies show that positive companies with strong goals and mission statements are much more likely to succeed than other businesses.

By constantly evaluating your franchise opportunity using the 5Ks it is highly likely to enhance your offering. The whole team will be more confident and the brand image will improve.

What type of home based business will you choose

Many people dream of having a financially secure future that they control. There are many keys that will determine if you are able to find this type of destiny for yourself or not. Some of the things that you need to consider whenever you are choosing what kind of business opportunity to get into are, will your business be online or off-line, how much time will this business take to start, run and maintain and, of course, how much startup cost is involved. Finding the correct home based business that will fit into your lifestyle is critical if you are going to be successful with it. There is no reason to start a busines that is not a fit with your lifestyle and experience.

The first thing that you need to consider is if you are going to have an online business or an off-line business. For many years, people that have an entrepreneur spirit and have wanted to work on their own in order to build financial wealth, have looked to brick and mortar businesses. Within the past 10 years or so, however, a major shift has taken place in which the Internet has provided a quick and easy way for people to set up shop online. Although brick and mortar businesses will always have their places, online businesses are certainly the wave of the future. Online businesses offer both a low startup cost and low risk so you can certainly test the waters and know if an online business is right for you quickly. This gives you a chance to see if this is a business that you can be sucessful at and also enjoy without investing all of your money in one place.

The next thing that you have to consider is how much time your new business is going to take you to start up, run and maintain. There is certainly a lot of variety as far as these three factors are concerned in any good business. Most people, however, simply do not have the time and resources necessary to be able to start a business while still maintaining the lifestyle that they are now enjoying. For that reason, a turnkey business is an absolute must for people that are simply too busy to be able to start a business that will take them hours upon hours to start and maintain. There are certainly plenty of these types of turnkey businesses online that offer you the opportunity to be able to start and run your business with minimal time investment, until you are able to devote yourself fully to it.

The final thing that should be considered is the cost that is involved in starting up a business. Traditional brick and mortar businesses require a huge investment of both time and money. The Internet provides you with the opportunity to test businesses and to become successful with a minimal amount of time and money spent. Not only that, the audience that you will be reaching online far outnumbers those that you can reach by setting up shop in your local community. That is why many people have turned to online businesses to help them to gain success quickly when entering the entrepreneurial marketplace.

Why business audiobooks are ideal business mentors

Are you looking for a business mentor to inspire and motivate you to success but can't find or afford one? Business audiobooks may just be the ideal business mentoring solution you are looking for to help you grow and succeed.

Statistics show that ninety-seven million Americans drive alone to work everyday -- and that doesn't even include those who commute by bus, train or car pool! With the average commute to and from work now reaching over an hour each way, that's almost two months of your life each year spent in transit or sitting in traffic. Just think how much you could improve your business or advance your professional career simply by listening to spoken audio recordings containing excellent information on how to improve your sales approach, communication and people skills, how to market your business better, ways to improve your customer service, etc. during this time.

With the rising popularity of MP3 players and iPods, and more new cars being fitted with built-in MP3 players (as of this year, almost all new cars are now capable of playing digital audio files), more business people are discovering that music or the news is not the only thing they can listen to while going about their busy day. Now, people can "listen" to business books, business seminars, sales and marketing lectures and podcasts from successful business people while they're on-the-go -- and when they don't have time to read. Hence, the huge emerging popularity of audio books with commuters and business owners.

Today's mobile and "time-starved" business owners, sales managers and sales professionals are discovering that they can download an unlimited amount of information into their brain, learn a foreign language or new skill that will improve their business, and get that competitive business edge while driving in their cars, commuting in trains and buses, or even while standing around in queues.

Most business people love to improve their business acumen via reading and taking courses, but lack the time to do so. This is where spoken audio recordings can play an important role in their professional lives.

Business audio books narrated by successful business people can act as an ideal mentoring tool for business owners (one specific title that comes immediately to mind is the audiobook version of Michael E. Gerber's business classic "The E-Myth: Why Most Small Businesses Don't Work And What To Do About It" read by the author himself!). Imagine all the money you can save on consulting fees and the knowledge you will gain, just by listening to an audio book written and narrated by a business expert while driving, or commuting to work on a bus or train.

Not only will you get mentored by some of the best business minds in the world and gain a competitive business edge by acquiring the latest business information listening to spoken audio recordings on business-related topics, you will also get yourself into the right "state of mind" for doing business successfully.

Just think about it! You arrive at work or at a sales presentation after having been "coached" by a successful business owner while driving or commuting, your mind is immersed in business thoughts and you're most likely inspired by a great business idea or tip you've just heard. You walk into a meeting and you are focused. Your mind is sharp. Your energy is positive and you look vibrant. Your brain is filled with new business strategies and ideas and working subconsciously with these to help you achieve the best results and outcomes no matter what daunting tasks, projects or challenges may lie ahead for you in your busy day.

As a business person, you can now use the amazing value inherent in listening to audio books to gain a competitive business edge over others. You won't have to worry about not having the time or will to flip through the pages of a book. You can now "listen" to business books when preparing to go to work in the morning, when commuting to and from work, etc.

Currently, there are thousands of best-selling business audiobook titles available. If you are at a loss for specific business audio books to get started, here are 5 of some of the best that any business person should listen to:

Jim Collins took the time to conduct extensive researches into how and what companies did to maintain success for many long years, while their counterparts failed within a few months or years of starting up. The power of the information contained within this audio book can help any business person to succeed.

These 5 audio books can truly help you improve your business, your career and your life, if you will simply take the time to listen to them and apply what you will learn. Before your next sales presentation, job interview, or important business meeting, take some time to go online and browse through an audiobook store for a downloadable business audiobook that you can burn to CD, or upload to your iPod or MP3 player. It will not only empower you to achieve better business results and improve your life, it will also give you a competitive edge over those who are spending their drive or commute time engaging in less productive activities.

Coverall uniforms

Coveralls are indispensable pieces of workwear when hard work is involved. If you have a business that requires people to wear coverall uniforms, then you must remember that a big share of the productivity at your workplace will depend on the kind of uniforms that your employees will wear. Hence, you should be careful in selecting the coverall uniforms. Your main focus should be on ensuring that the coverall uniforms will provide to your workers all the comfort that they deserve when they are working so that they do not feel stressed out. The beauty of the coverall uniforms is important too, but that should come after the comfort.

The fit of the coverall uniforms should be designed so as to provide comfort to the wearer. Coveralls should be meant to be a bit loose, so you will need to measure the sizes your workers will require before placing orders. There should be enough room for the workers to perform their tasks, and the coverall should not make movement too cumbersome for them. For women employees, there are separate coverall designs, with more room in the hip area to fit their body shape. You must make sure you get separate pieces for the men and the women in your unit; coveralls are not unisex uniforms.

Coverall uniforms must, as the name suggests, cover the whole body when people are working. But there are some styles that can make allowances according to your workplace environment. You could make a choice between the long-sleeved or the short-sleeved coveralls. If you do not want the traditional jumpsuits, you could go for the bib overalls which are also very popular. The bib overalls do not have sleeves, and they are kept in place by suspender kind of attachments. There are also aprons that can be coordinated with trousers to make for good workwear uniforms.

The best material for making coverall uniforms is cotton, because it allows the uniform to be airier so that the worker does not feel unduly hot while working. But, there are a host of fabrics available that you can choose from. You will find several synthetic fabrics, or cottons blended with other materials like wool. Denim coveralls and bib overalls are very popular among workers who have to perform lot of physical tasks in their workplace. Denim coveralls also add a bit of stud fashion to the workwear.

If you are looking to dress up your employees in smart-looking coveralls, overalls or just aprons, you can find many retailers online and are just a few clicks away. Online retailers have a very large assortment of all kinds of coverall uniforms and the other kinds that are needed in workplaces all over. You will find some of the biggest workwear brands rubbing shoulders with each other online, including Dickies, the grandfather of all coverall manufacturers. What's better than the online range is the prices! The prices are priced right and you can select from the full range of sizes. Also, You can find online supplier that will customize the coveralls for your employees. You can get the company logo embroidered on the coverall uniforms, and decorate them with silk screening if you like. You can also get reflective tape attached to your coveralls for those especially hazardous environments.

Google basics for ecommerce businesses

Google dominates the search engine world, despite the fact that the conversion-to-buyer rate at MSN is much higher. This forces most ecommerce businesses to try and dance Google’s waltz, without fully comprehending the ins and outs of how Google works.

Navigating Google is difficult. Most SEO optimizing specialists and SEO Internet marketers do not understand what they are doing. In fact, most of them are so far behind the times that their information is useless. Summer 2007 saw the latest change in Google’s algorithm leaving many ecommerce businesses with sharp decreases in traffic.

What is a Google Algorithm

The Google Algorithms are basically the math formulas used to determine which web pages rank high in the searches, and which ones rank low, or are banned. Google changes the rules every 18 - 24 months to help them sweep away websites that are not optimized and MFA (Made For AdSense) static sites.

Google also makes changes to meet the needs of the webmasters. When Google brought in their inbound link ranking system, it gave many webmasters an opportunity to build link farms, gaining an unfair advantage. In response Google now looks for content around a link. If there is no content, then the link has no value.

When Google started to focus on content, webmasters and programmers created Content Management Systems. Unfortunately, until recently, Google could not read database pages. Now, the programmers have created a static page method of page creation, and search engines learned how to read content off databases.

Search Engine Optimization

Many webmasters do not understand what this means. And, many SEO optimizers do not understand what this means. To many, it still means coding a page so that the keywords are highlighted, and under .05% of the content (including link bars). They believe it is a method of web design.

Ecommerce businesses are still scrambling to pay SEO optimizers big bucks to make their pages rank high, when meta tags and SEO tricks have very little importance. Now, the search engines are looking for good content, with heading titles, and a site full of similar content, with articles linked together using the same ‘keyword anchors.’

Google’s new algorithms have made it possible for many small ecommerce businesses to build their page rank, and search engine rank, without ever paying a dime to a SEO specialist.

The Google Sandbox and Supplemental Index

Both of these cause chills to run up most webmasters spines, but only because they are not understood, Google does not have a Sandbox. Yes, it may take a few months to get your website listed and showing up, inbound links may not appear for a long time, and a website may not show up when searched - but that is not a sandbox. It is just a backlog. One way to overcome it is to take part in Google’s PayPerClick program. Even if you only invest $20 a month, being a part of that program immediately links your site, so you do not need to wait.

The supplemental index is as easy to get out of. First, take a look at the meta information - is it too generic? If so, then do not use keywords but use keyword phrases. The keyword ‘ecommerce’, is too generic, so is ‘ecommerce business.’ However, ‘learn how to start an ecommerce business’ will help that page target. Next, make sure the page is linked to a high ranking page. This can be done by putting links inside the page - or by adding it to the website’s navigation system. Within a short time, that page will no longer be in the supplemental index.

Using time

“Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time; for that's the stuff life is made of.” - Benjamin Franklin

One of the primary keys to developing a home-based business is an understanding, appreciation and proper use of time.

Time management is hard to manage even in the pressure of the corporate world. It becomes even more difficult when you are the only one accountable for your time.

“Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things that matter least.” - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

The development of time management techniques often begins with consistent list-making routines. These lists are an important means of helping you stay on task and complete the goals you have for the day.

One of the ways many entrepreneurs manage their list of ‘to do’ items is to place the most difficult and most immediate items first on the list and then tackle each issue in order – one at a time.

The natural inclination is to sort through the list and find the things that are easy to do and tackle a few of those. This would be all right except the end result is simply the completion of less than essential items that typically replace those things that really need to get done.

"Sweet childish days, that were as long, as twenty days are now." - William Wordsworth

One of the things that can pull a home-based business off track is when there is a lull in business activity and the owner lavishes their attention on so many ‘fun’ activities that they find it difficult to move back into work mode when they need to.

The Internet is a playground of fun activities that exist alongside legitimate means of ecommerce. This can provide a detrimental temptation to home-based business owners.

The happiest people spend much time in a state of flow - the state in which people are so involved in an activity that nothing else seems to matter; the experience itself is so enjoyable that people will do it even at great cost, for the sheer sake of doing it. - Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi

One trait of the best home-based business is an effective use of time. It is nothing to be wasted and it can’t be saved it can only be used wisely or irresponsibly.

Can anybody remember when the times were not hard and money not scarce? - Ralph Waldo Emerson

The single most important thing in web hosting

The Web hosting industry is less than a decade old, but already we've seen dramatic changes in the attitudes and priorities of customers. In these few years, the concerns of my clients have switched from, "Who's the best?" to "Who's the cheapest?" to "Who's going to be around for a few years?"

So, in this competitive world of web hosting where there are gigantic web-hosting companies to small-dedicated companies, how do you make your company stand, how do you grab a customer and hold it on for years to come.

The golden key this is Customer Service, Support and Satisfaction.

Most hosting companies are tech savvy enough to provide adequate support to their customers, sure enough. However, the quality and warm service here faces a set back. It is true that answering support requests through a ticket desk or email absorb a generous portion of a host’s daily activity. This may be time consuming and may cause the companies to neglect this area of service.

However, quality customer support can be a newer web host's weapon when competing with the larger web hosts who may own several dedicated servers or perhaps even their own data center. Quality customer support is the trump card you have complete control over to set yourself apart from the competition. As a matter of fact, some larger companies lack in this area simply because their clients' numbers are too large.

How does one accomplish this? It's actually quite simple but requires a stern dedication to satisfying the client.

Fast and complete answers to customer’s queries.

Tickets and support requests should never be one line or one-word answers. Many times this will require your client to resubmit their ticket and cause both frustrations for them and loss of time for you. If the ticket is answered correctly the first time, then the problem is solved that much faster and efficiently...and this is what clients want. They want fast responses and complete answers to their queries. Do not belittle their request with standard one line jargon.

Make the customer feel important.

Always thank the client for submitting a request to support or sales. Open each response to a ticket or sales inquiry with, "thank you for contacting us." And then go on to answer the request...accurately.

Always end your answer with "Thanks for writing in. Please contact us if we can help you further." This makes an unforgettable first impression on the client.

Advance Notice of in case of Downtime.

Never fail to inform your clients of scheduled downtime. They will appreciate it. The irritable feeling one gets when they log on to their site and get that dreaded white page is a very powerful deterrent to NOT use a particular host’s service. When your server is down, be the first to let them know. Have a mailing list of your clients' off server contact emails for a quick email blast informing them of any issues.

Fast Response.

Ability to answer a customer's question is very important. But to answer their queries with professionalism, politeness and resolution is just as important and often overlooked in web hosting industry.

The power of positive thinking and your business

You may not realize this but your thoughts and thought processes have an impact on how you run your business and its inherent success. The way you think has an effect on your business and thinking positively or negatively may make or break you. How does a person's thought processes affect a business? What is the correlation between the way your mind works and how successful your business is and will be?

The way a person's mind works is so intricate that digging deep into it to figure it out may be a pretty tough call, however, there is evidence that proves how positive thinking often brings positive results. This positive thinking equals positive results phenomenon is brought about by the possible solutions one can come up with when faced with a problem.

Every now and then, when a problem arises within your business organization, how you deal with the problem can either help your company move forward or backward. With the positive results that can be had with positive thinking, you will do well to make your mind run on that path. An example of such positive thinking would be when your business experiences temporary losses due to seasonal fluxes and instead of buckling under the pressure of such losses, you go with the flow and calmly assess the situation to come up with countermeasures to counteract such losses.

Having the proper positive mindset when running a business not only helps you realize your company's potential but helps keep things in the proper perspective. If you keep thinking positive about your business in the proper context and within the boundaries of reality, you save yourself from a lot of headaches that needless negative thinking may generate. Looking at the brighter side of the situation will also help you come up with timely solutions for certain business problems you may not have been able to solve had you faced it negatively.

Positive thinking can be cultivated in a person's psyche through hypnotherapy or self-hypnosis. Making yourself think in a better light about how you can run your business and how to solve the ever emerging problems associated with running a business will not only help your money making ventures but your personal life as well.

Find out how you can benefit from thinking positive and how you can train your mind to think in this light and you will eventually be reaping the positive rewards positive thinking brings.

Don t overlook the value of email marketing

Let’s face it, almost everyone has an email address. How many people would you know that didn’t have an email address? More importantly everyone working online or wanting to work online will have an email address.

It’s not a luxury, it is just an everyday service that everybody has and uses almost everyday. We use it to keep in touch with our family and friends. We use it to send photos to friends close by or overseas. We use it for our businesses. Email is the modern day ‘letter’. Very few people will keep in touch by letter these days, they just send an email.

So why not make the most of this modern convenience and use it as a marketing tool. However, don’t send cheesy emails that are obviously just trying to make a sale, be very careful with your email content so that your email customers will stay customers and not be scared away.

Don’t try to make a sale EVERY time you send an email to your customer. If all they ever receive from you are sales pitches, they will unsubscribe from your list and you will never make a sale from them.

Keep your emails relatively plain. Use plain, easy to read text with both your font anIt can also be helpful to use a border or a line between the main body of the text and your signature lines.

If you use an autoresponder you can set it up to run automatically. That means that you pre type all your email messages and schedule them to be sent on certain daily intervals. This is a great way to run your business on auto pilot, once your emails are all set up, the autoresponder will do the rest.

When writing your emails talk to your customers in a personal manner. Make them feel like you have written that email just for them. Make them feel special. Let them get to know you and to gain a trust in you.

If your email customers trust you, they will believe that anything you recommend to them must be good. You will be able to make much more sales from customers that trust you, than from customers that will end up just unsubscribing do to you sending too many sales pitch emails to them.

It is recommended to put your contact email address in your signature and allow your customers to email you if they have any questions that they want to ask you. This will help to build that good relationship and trust with your customer.

Don’t send your customers really long emails. If your email is too long there is a good chance your customers won’t read it. Keep it short but make sure you still get your point across.

To build your email list it is a good idea to offer your website visitors a gift. You can offer them a gift where they need to optin to your mailing list to receive the free gift.

It also helps to offer your subscribers the occasional free gift through your emails too. This once again can build up the trust in your relationship and if you give them a good quality gift they will really appreciate it.

If many of your subscribers are new to internet marketing and you build up a good relationship with them, they will trust you and they will look to you for advice. So when you do let them know of a new product or a good value for money product, they will trust your judgement and you will have a good chance of making the sale.

Look after your subscribers and they will look after you.

The growing popularity of cellular phones

The creation of technological advances has made communication easier and more convenient on our part. People used to think that the telephone was the ultimate invention in terms of advance communication but then the information age has brought with it the internet and the mobile phone which makes us wonder of what would be coming next in the near future.

In today’s modern age, one cannot count the many ways that we could communicate with other people. Long gone were the days when we had to make our calls at home or at work through the use of the telephone. Even if you are on the street, on the bus, or on top of the Empire State Building you can literally call anybody or receive calls for that matter.

It has been observed that there has been a significant growth in the number of cellular phone users all over the world. Millions worldwide use this device as their main mode of communication to keep in touch with family, friends and people at work.

The growing popularity of cellular phones is due to the fact that they are wireless, light weight and very practical. It allows people to make calls and be called from literally anywhere (within the network coverage area of course). Some phones can have batteries with standby time of up to a week and talk time of several hours even up to a day.

When the very first cellular phones were created, they use to be heavy, bulky and had a short battery time. But now, we can find lots of cellular phones that are handy, slim, and small. They even come with ultra hip features that may include a built in MP3 player, built-in camera of up to 3 mega pixels, wireless access to the internet and a whole lot of other great features. We can even find GPRS and 3G technologies being used by cellular phone networks.

Before, only the affluent could afford to have a cellular phone because aside from the unit itself being expensive, availing of the mobile operator’s services were quite costly. But now, with the onset of many companies venturing into this industry and the creation of cheap and affordable mobile phones, cellular phones have been made more affordable.

The means of communication available has truly adapted to the ways of the modern people who are more mobile, outgoing and always on the run.

Solving common dsl internet slowdowns

The speed and accessibility of the Internet has greatly increased due in no small part to DSL technology. Only cable can claim faster speeds in the consumer market, and not in all circumstances. User can now access the Internet at incredible speeds at affordable prices that in the recent past would have simply been impossible.

As is often the case, the more advanced a technology becomes, the more easily it breaks down. Although a great Internet service, DSL is subject to this problem as well. It doesn't take a great deal to cause a serious DSL slowdown, and they can be difficult to fix.

When dial up Internet access was the only Internet service available, slowdowns were less obvious. Since everything was equally slow it would usually take a dropped connection before a dial-up users perceived a problem. Now customers are used to a higher level of service, and slowdowns can be painfully obvious. The most common areas where DSL Internet access slowdowns occur are the phone line and the computer.

Phone Line Slowdowns:

Distance from the local phone company exchange is a factor in how fast a DSL connection can get. The further away a user is, the lower the transfer rate. Although there are signal amplifiers and filters that can mitigate this problem, it has not completely gone away. It is possible to be so far away from the exchange that service is impossible.

It seems now that the direct line that feeds a users house is more often a DSL Internet issue in an area where access is available. Load coils, resistive crosses, and line taps can all create line noise. Line noise will slow a DSL connection, if not prevent a connection all together. The consumer can do little to correct most line noise, and it should e recommended that the user's phone company be notified and request a line test. FCC regulations require a certain level of line quality, and is that is not met it is the phone company's responsibility to fix this problem.

External devices can also cause line noise. Phones, televisions, fax machines and other devices can cause disruptions in DSL service. Although these devices create only a small amount of noise, it is cumulative. If one of these devices is defective or old the noise can get bad fast. If you are having trouble with a DSL connection and believe it might be noise from external devices, unplug everything from the phone lines except the DSL modem and try your download speeds. Be sure to use the line filters that came with the DSL modem, as these are designed to help decrease line noise.

Computer Issues

The computer itself is the most likely problem area of any DSL connection. Hardware and software configurations are limitless, and among them are set ups that simply wont work. Add the possibility of spyware, viruses and worms and you have a multitude of possible issues.

It is likely that very old computers cannot process information at the speeds DSL connections can serve it up. This can really slowdown a fast download, and cause a severe bottleneck. This can be identified by the severe slowing down of all computer processes when downloading files.

Worms, viruses, and spyware cab all slow down a DSL Internet connection. This problem can be easily fixed with a good anti-virus product like Norton or McAfee. Both of these packages have Auto-Protect features that scan anything stored on the computer. Although Auto-Protect can cause slight slowdowns, it is well worth it.

The benefit of using tracking tools

When it comes to marketing on the internet you have to have some way to track your efforts. There are many tracking programs you can use to track your advertising. These tracking tools are invaluable and something you must have in order to be successful in internet business.

Internet marketing is difficult because of the shear size of the internet. With so many websites and so many places people can go, it can be hard to find customers. Part of your marketing efforts should be spent trying new places where your customers may be found.

When trying out new advertising locations, you have to have some way to track how successful they are. Tracking programs will help you monitor your advertising and will provide you with the information you need so you can decide if an ad campaign is working or not.

Tracking programs work by cataloging traffic as it comes to your website. The tracking program can tell where the visitor came from and many times they can tell if the visitor is a first time or a repeat customer. The program then keeps a log for you.

When you look at the log you can tell what ads are bringing in the most business. It is a simple way for you to see what ads you should keep up and which ones should be pulled. You may also be able to decide which types of ads work better or what types of websites are the best on which to advertise.

A tracking program is so useful when you are marketing. The information it will provide is something you could not get otherwise. You would be aimlessly trying out advertising but never really knowing what results it was producing. By using tracking programs you can ensure you know just how well your marketing is going at all time.

Shrink wrap machinery l-sealers

The purpose of this article is to allow the reader to understand the principles that relate to the use of an L-sealer in creating a pack enclosed within shrink film.

Shrink wrap requires a pack to be enclosed in shrink film before the pack and film are introduced to a heat source which activates the film’s memory to produce the desired effect.

There are two ways in which pack may be wrapped – the pack may be either wholly enclosed or partially enclosed using a sleeve.

The sleeve is not the concern of this article. Sleeve wrapping generally involves polyethylene material and collations of packs where the medium provides the lowest packaging costs for moving products in bulk.

The total enclosure of a pack allows it to be offered principally for display in a thin material that enhances its appeal.

The issue is then to be able to create a bag around a product.

This is achieved either by an L-sealer or by an automatic machine using one or two rolls of flat film where a variety of alternative sealing methods leads to the same objective – the pack is wholly enclosed.

It is impossible to achieve an appropriate shrink result unless the film is adequately secured around the product.

Hence, flat sheet film will not produce a shrink result.

There has been some work to offer shrink bags for the market.

These can be available in polyethylene but they are not available in either polyolefin or PVC.

It is not possible to open bags to allow them to be used efficiently.

The consequence of these demands is that where production runs through either manual or semi-automatic equipment, an L-sealer is used.

The machine requires, then, that material is used that is centrefolded and presented, on the reel.

Material is available in a variety of thicknesses and a variety of widths but the common theme is that the material is presented to the sealer such that the reel is unwound from the right to the left with the fold of the film at its rear.

The use of the expression L-sealer is marginally inaccurate since sealing takes place using an inverted L.

The L-seal takes place such that the foot of the letter L is rotated through 180 degrees – the vertical axis of the L is unaltered but the base of the L is rotated so that the foot points to the left and not the right.

The film is loaded onto the sealer and split in half using a splitter plate. This allows one half of the film to pass underneath the plate and one half over the top of the plate.

The adjustment of the width of the film together with the adjustment of the splitter plate is made to accommodate the dimensions of the pack.

Before the first pack is introduced, the film is sealed for the first time.

The sealer works so as to cut the film and seal both sides of the cut.

The first cycle creates the left hand seal – and it is noted again that the film is already effectively sealed at the rear by virtue of the film being folded in half.

Having been inserted on the splitter plate, the pack and film are then moved into the sealing area of the sealer.

The base of the sealer will also need to be adjusted for the height of the pack.

The pack is appropriately positioned and the film is also positioned to ensure a minimum of creases and a lack of tension.

The sealing cycle creates the front seal – and scrap - together with the right hand seal and as already mentioned the left hand seal for the next pack.

As a consequence, the sealer may be continuously cycled to produce sealed packs.

The rate of scrap produced at the front of the pack requires to be optimised.

If there is too much, it is just uneconomic.

If there is too little, it is likely to cause slow production speeds together with inadequate seal strength as the film is put under tension to ensure that it meets on the seal beds at the front of the machine.

Although height adjustment is preferable, to allow seals to reside on the sides of any pack, the true purpose is to minimise the film width.

It is essential that half the film covers the bottom of the pack and half its height dimension and equally, half the film covers the top of the pack and half its height dimension.

The fundamental principle remains the need to create two dimensional bags around three dimensional objects.

L-sealing is most certainly also used on fully automatic equipment where the same principles as above hold.

There are some variations with regard to accommodating the third dimension being height.

At the simplest level, this is ignored.

At the more sophisticated level, the position of the seal head and beds is altered to ensure that these components – rather than the pack – move to accommodate the pack height.

It is worth highlighting the need to appreciate that plan sealing dimensions for any L-sealer must be adjusted to account for pack height.

At their maximum, the length and width of any sealer must be reduced by half the height of the pack to be wrapped.

Although an L-sealer can cope with an amount of film pleating, this will inhibit a good quality seal.

As a consequence, film does require to be both flat as well as not under tension on the seal beds.

The key to successful L-sealing is the use of adequate temperature and pressure with the complete absence of tension.

For automatic applications, films require to have excellent machineability, particularly with regard to tear resistance so that the film scrap may be continuously removed from the sealer.

The selection of the correct material with the correct thickness and width is crucial to successful L-sealing.

Looking for honest ways to earn extra income

Everyone who is looking for ways to earn extra money knows it is not going to fall into their lap. There are many honest methods of earning extra cash and if working outside the house part time is not an option for you, look to the internet for new methods.

Everyone has heard about the big money to be made through online auctions and some people actually earn a living simply selling merchandise at auction. Many more, however, can pick up a few extra dollars here and there, but if you want to make the big bucks, you will be doing this on a near full-time basis. Getting connected with a company that supplies the products for you to list on your auction site, and then handle the billing and shipping can create a lot of profit if you pick the right items to sell.

If you do not find the right merchandise and your listings do not sell, you will go broke paying listing fees for merchandise still sitting in the company’s warehouse. Before you get started in a full time auction business, become fully educated on the type of merchandise in demand and remember it will change with the seasons and at the whim of the customers. What sells good today may languish in a warehouse tomorrow.

Affiliate marketing is about the easiest way to make extra money today. The only work required on your part is placing another company’s ad on your site. When visitors to your site click on the add, it automatically tracks the referral and when they make a purchase you earn a commission. If you do not have a website, these ads can be placed on your web log, known as a blog, and if the ads relate to the subject of your blog, you can earn even more money.

Selling online can also bring in extra cash, but for this you will need a website or at least get connected to an existing website that will let you post your merchandise for sale. There are some craft or antique malls that rent booth and floor space in which you can display your products. The mall will handle all the marketing for the entire building without focusing on one tenant, ad in addition to the monthly space rental will also charge a percentage of the total sales.

Perhaps website can be constructed that will also showcase all the vendors of crafts or antiques and allow online sales. If you allow vendors to place their ads for a set amount, you can eliminate the need for collecting a percentage and just maintain the site for them. You and they both can receive additional income from this type of endeavor.

4 tips to find the web host that s right for you

So you have finally planned to invade the magical world of Internet. All captions ready, all information gathered, all details penned down. What next?

Your next important step is finding the Web Host for your site, The Right One..

A web host is a service provider that places your web site on a computer that is connected to Internet. This then gives people who surf Internet a way to access your website.

Finding the best host for your company's Web site is one of the most important steps when taking your business online. Not only will your host be responsible for placing your company's site on the Internet; it will also be responsible for keeping it there and being available to potential customers.

Now, let us take a look at the steps to be followed when choosing the right web host:

1. Create an online plan for your site. What you are going to sell, number of items, methods of payment and the features of your site. Then determine the possibilities for your site's expansion over the next six months, the next year and the next five years. Look into these factors before short-listing your probable host.

Disk Space/Storage refers to the amount of space given by a web-hosting plan for your web site's pages, images, and any additional files. Take this into consideration when determining the total number of files you will be using for your website and their sizes. If you are planning on creating a website with a lot of video or audio files, you will need a lot of disk space. Check whether your host can meet this requirement.

Programming Languages such as ASP, PHP, Perl/CGI, JSP and ColdFusion are used to create a lot of popular scripts (software) to help your website function. Make sure your web host supports the language used by you. Also, if you are planning on selling services or products from your website, make sure the web hosting plan you choose offers some type of ecommerce solution.

2. Now that you have checked out all your requirements, pick your top five responses. Surprisingly, many of the hosts you submit a request for a proposal to won't respond by your set deadline. Ignore them and look at the responses you receive and pick the five best.

3. Ask for references. Take your short list of hosts and ask them for the names of some of their clients -- then pick up the phone and see what the host's clients have to say. Be sure to inquire how good the host is at making the site available online.

4. Test their customer service. Pick up the phone and call customer support at 2 a. m. Drop customer support an e-mail to see how fast they respond to you. Do what it takes to feel comfortable with your service provider before you enter into any type of business relationship.

Choosing the right Web host is easier if you approach it the way you would approach any other major purchase for your business. It can mean the difference between success and failure for your online venture.

Collocation hosting it pays to know

Collocation hosting is a relatively easy thing to find on the web. If this is the method that you plan to utilize for your business, it pays to take the time to compare companies as well as prices for several reasons. With more and more people turning to the web for help in locating their hosting solutions, there is little doubt that the right option is here. But, considering the cost of many collocation hosting services, you should invest some time in finding the right company. It takes only a few minutes.

Here are some things to consider when comparing collocation hosting companies:

• First and foremost, make sure that the hosting company you consider offers collocation hosting, not all do.

• Do they specialize in it? Many do not and therefore have other solutions to concentrate on as well. Your goal is to find the right balance of expertise and price.

• And, of course you will want to compare prices. It makes sense to. Make sure to look at monthly prices as well as quarterly and yearly. You may save money going with the longer option but if you don’t plan to use the service that long, then think again.

• Make sure to compare the details as well. You’ll want to find out what they can offer you compared to other hosting solution companies.

To be the right collocation hosting service for you, it should be one that meets or exceeds your needs as well as offers the best price for your budget.

There are also many information portals now devoted to the subject and we recommend reading about it at one of these. Try googling for “collocation hosting” and you will be surprised by the abundance of information on the subject. Alternatively you may try looking on Yahoo, MSN or even a decent directory site, all are good sources of this information.

Don t get ripped off with business cards

Everyone knows that business cards are important to any successful business’s image, and that you should have some on hand at all times to give to potential clients and referrals. So you should always go to a local printer and have some classy, exclusive business cards designed for you, right? Wrong! Did you know that you can get business cards for free?

The truth is, business cards are a cash cow for most printers because they take time and effort (mostly yours, unfortunately) to design, but can then be printed for next to nothing. But because of the intensive front-end time and the allure of having something made locally that seems to be personalized and unique, small print shops can charge a small fortune for them.

The truth is, unless a print shop has an actual artist on staff, those business cards you pay a premium for (and then wait on for weeks or even months) are created from templates. You’re paying for an illusion, and that’s money you could have spent much more effectively in other ways.

You can create free business cards online and still have professional looking, top quality cards these days! And hey, who doesn’t think “free” is better than “high priced?” With the typical online business card company offering hundreds of different styles, colors, designs and fonts, the combinations available run into the thousands – so your business cards can be tailored to your company’s needs and provide the professionalism and panache you want to convey.

Not a graphic designer? No problem! Creating free business cards online is easy for the most technologically challenged and design-deficient. Step-by-step instructions and easy point-and-click interfaces mean you can create your cards in minutes, not hours. And you’ll have your new, snappy business cards in just days. Believe me, you won’t be able to tell the difference between these free online business cards and those pricey extravaganzas you used to pay for – until you see the invoice (or the lack of one).

Some of you may be hold-outs, thinking that if you order free online business cards you won’t be getting the same quality. I hate to burst your bubble, but the print quality is the same or better than that at small, boutique print shops. The equipment is state-of-the art, the inks used are top quality and the card stock is the same or better than you’ll find in smaller print shops. Because the supplies are purchased in volume, they can offer more selection at a better price, too.

Isn’t it time you took the time to create free online business cards for your company? Then you can have great looking business cards and pocket some of that cash you’ve been feeding that old cash cow at the local print shop, too.
