Thailands koh samui holidays

If you're looking for a vacation spot with a little bit of everything, Koh Samui should be your port of call! This Thai island lies off the east of the Kra Isthmus and as Thailand's third largest island, it has enough to do to entertain even the most discerning tourist. With plenty of beach-front resorts that will have you living just meters away from the water, let this island show you some of the best of what Thailand has to offer.

If you re a nature lover, be sure to take advantage of the many day trips into mountainous jungle interior of the island. Keep an eye out for the waterfalls, especially for Na Muang and Na Muang II. The former is 18 meters high while the later stretches up a dizzying 80 meters. While the former can be accessed by vehicle, the later can only be reached via a 30 minute walk. If possible, see both of these natural wonders during your stay. If you are interested in some of the wildlife of Thailand, Koh Samui has a crocodile farm, a monkey theater, a butterfly garden and an renowned aquarium, and that's just for starters!

When you're tired of the wildlife, check out the nightlife! Koh Samui boasts many bars, discos and cabaret shows, especially in Lamai and Chaweng. Check out the Raggae Pub and the Bauhaus for dancing that can last until dawn. For live music, head down to the Beach Pub at Secret Garden. This stretch of beach has become an international gathering place for professional and semiprofessional musicians, and live sessions take place every Saturday afternoon, attracting large crowds of people, all ready for a party!

One of the best reasons to make Koh Samui your vacation destination is the water; the waters of this beautiful island are crystal clear, making for some of the snorkeling and scuba diving in the world. If you've never gone scuba diving before, there's not time to start like the present; you'll find plenty of schools scattered along the coastline that are willing to teach you.

If you ave an interest in physical sports, come to Koh Samui to take a look at the the Thai martial art, Muay Thai boxing. This martial art has become the known all over the world for it's intensely fast action and close combat fighting style; in Koh Samui, you can see matches that will show you what this form of boxing is truly capable of. Chaweng Stadium holds matches every Monday and Friday, while you can see fights every Saturday at the Lamai stadium.

To see what life may have been like more than a century a go, be sure to visit Koh Samui's oldest standing house in Ban Thale. This structure was made out of teakwood without the use of any nails. Constructed of teak planks and adorned to with traditional Thai woodcarvings, this house can show you some of the decorative motifs and styles that can still be seen in Thai design today.

Koh Samui has a lot to offer, so make sure that you plan a vacation there soon. Between the tranquil beaches and the lively bar scene, there really is something for everyone!

Discover tenerife - the holidaymakers dream island

Have you discovered Tenerife yet? Many UK holidaymakers describe Tenerife as their dream holiday island. So, what is it about this island which makes it so popular with the UK holidaymakers?

The island of Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands, and probably the most popular with visitors. In fact, studies suggest that over the last one hundred years holidaymakers have risen from one hundred a year to a staggering 11 million. For an island of only 778,000 inhabitants, this is an impressive level of tourism and suggests that Tenerife really does have quite a lot to write home about!

So why do so many people come here? Unsurprisingly it would seem that the British come for the sun. A quick peak at the average temperature in summer and in winter, which generally only varies by about 10 degrees, will confirm that Tenerife is the perfect destination for those fed up with the British weather. Even in the height of summer, Tenerife usually has a prevailing westerly wind which helps to keep it at a moderate temperature.

Although Tenerife is probably best-known for its southern beaches and golf resorts, the island is actually one of stark contrasts – from golden sands to black volcanic beaches; from mountain peaks to green valleys. It is this dramatic scenery which not only draws in those wanting to enjoy the sunny beaches but also appeals to those wanting a more active, walking or nature-based holiday.

However, it is definitely possible to discover the “real Tenerife” without having to set off hiking. The island is surprisingly car-friendly and car hire couldn’t be easier than in Tenerife. It’s all there for you when you step off the plane. Hiring a car is the perfect way to explore the island – simply pack up a picnic and venture out.

Tenerife has become the holidaymaker’s dream island because it has something for everyone, from the scenery and the beaches to the weather and the climate. Discovering Tenerife is definitely something that everyone should do.

Tips to enjoy a memorable holiday abroad

When you plan an international trip with your family it will be easier to get sick when you are in a new environment. Your body should get adjusted to the new food, water and air. The stress and excitement of travel could make you more likely to get sick. Here are a few healthy tips for you to make your trip more enjoyable.

The first thing you need is to find out what kinds of vaccinations needed in the country you plan to visit and other requirements.

There are three most common health problems one will face during such travel. They are:

• Jet lag

• Altitude sickness

• Diarrhoea

To overcome jet lag, if you are travelling from west to east you must stay out of the sun until the day after your arrival. If you travel from east to west, you go for a brisk walk sooner you arrive at the place of your visit.

Dry air, decrease in oxygen and low barometric pressure due to altitude are the reasons for the altitude sickness. By gradually increasing the altitude this problem can be solved or a drug known as acetazolamide can give a relief from this sickness.

Traveller's diarrhoea - turista occurs when foreign type bacteria enters the digestive tract when contaminated food or water is taken. By taking proper care in the food you eat and the water you drink this can be avoided.

Water supplies in many developing countries are not treated, so it is better you drink only bottled water.

You must carry inhalers, allergy medicines, insulin as well as contact lens cleaners and vitamins. It is always better to carry your medical history with you while on travel with the following information:

• Name, address and phone number of the contact person in case of emergency

• Blood group

• Immunization reports

• Doctor's name, address and telephone number

• Name and address of your health insurance carrier including your policy number

• A list of current medications you are taking, if any

With the above precautions, you will surely have a memorable holiday abroad and share with us on your return.

Bollywood s own stars and sights travel to mumbai - travel information

Situated on the Arabian Sea, at the very western edge of India’s subcontinent, lies the country’s most populous and prosperous metropolis. Mumbai, formerly Bombay until 1995, is a massive island city bursting with life at every turn. Mumbai is home to the Hindi film and television industry, also known as Bollywood, and offers hundreds of movie houses including the largest IMAX dome in Asia.

Travelers to Mumbai may find themselves struck by the incredible disparity in wealth and lifestyle among the island’s inhabitants; however, most travelers will also notice a general friendly cheer during their daily excursions. Almost all of Mumbai’s population is not native to the island, which creates an eclectic mix of ethnicities, beliefs, cuisine and culture that has encouraged acceptance among most of the people.

Mumbai from the Outside

Mumbai has one of the most heavily traveled ports in India, making the large Bombay metropolis India’s commercial and financial capital. Visit the spectacular Gateway of India, the magnificent basalt structure built for King George V and Queen Mary in 1911 that greets nearly all travelers arriving in Mumbai by boat. From here you can catch a ferry to Elephanta Island to witness the most famous and intricate cave temples of Maharashtra. For people watching, head down to the Marine Drive Chowpatty and enjoy the beach breezes, shop the street-side vendors and get yourself a relaxing head massage.

Within the city limits lies Sanjay Gandhi National Park, which serves as a necessary sanctuary for breathable air in the north of Mumbai. Make sure to catch Bombay’s famous prowling leopards during your visit. There are also many walking and boating tours available as a means to experience the city. This is the best way to get your initial bearings and learn the general history and architectural background of Mumbai/Bombay.

A Bombay Treasure Island

The Mumbai municipality is a literal treasure hunt for the adventurous explorer. Centuries of history are written in the architecture, museums, bazaars and personal accounts littered all about the lively neighborhoods. St. Thomas’ Cathedral is a reminder of the British rule in Bombay and also the oldest English building in the city. The remarkable contrast of the whitewashed church against the detailed and ornate backdrop of Mumbai is a noteworthy sight. Visit the Prince of Wales Museum, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum, and discover ancient remnants of Maharashtra while inside an architectural landmark set among splendid gardens.

Mumbai, and certainly all of India, is the place to be your adventurous self. The first step is finding airfare to Bombay right here on cFares. Once you touch down on the tarmac in Mumbai, indulge your senses in the flavors of curry, the treats of street vendors, and the delicacy of fresh sweet pastry. Expand your senses and stretch your mind in a yoga class or meditation session, many of which are open to the public. This is your opportunity to discover the most unique and welcoming city in India, dive in!

Travel tours and insurance needs

There are a lot of people who will not travel until they get travel insurance. You may hear all the warnings that the travel agents try to show caution towards, but you will also find that you are going to be spending a lot of money and you will like to know that your investment is going to be protected.

You will first find that there maybe an unexpected problem. You will find that there are some things that could go wrong and you will want to make sure that you can get your money back. The travel insurance was created so that you can save yourself some hassle when it comes to cancellations for certain things. You may find that right before you travel you may end up becoming very ill or you may end up having to deal with something like a death in the family. There is so much that could go wrong and you would want to make sure that you get the insurance so when the unexpected happens, you are prepared for it.

For those who are traveling overseas or to other countries, you may want to look into an insurance plan that will cover you in that foreign country. You will want to see what it covers, because what you have now usually will not give you medical since many plans are not accepted in other countries. In these situations you need to have medical when you are put into an emergency. You will want to make sure that you are covered away from home. You need to make sure that you can be covered in any situation.

With the out break of terrorism, you may find that there are flights that can be booked, but it could be canceled anytime. You will fin that there are some countries that are prone to cancel and you will want to take inconsideration that there are unpredictable events in the world that could affect your trip.

Even though there are a number of reasons why you may have a closing of the airline, you will want to take inconsideration the weather conditions. You may also have to deal with something that will not be rescheduled and refunds will not be given. It is times like these that you will use the insurance to get your money back.

One of the most popular things is losing your luggage. You will find that missing a luggage is always the case if you do not carry on. This means that you will want to take the insurance out if you know the stats of the number of things that get lost in the luggage area. You will also find that there are going to be items that may be lost or stolen and the insurance will cover that as well. This is one of the reasons why you need the insurance to fly. You may pack some valuable things in your bag and when you land, have none of it. The insurance will help you to cut your costs.

A walking safari in tanzania s ngorongoro

See Tanzania’s incredible flora and fauna on foot, walking in the African Bush with Masai warriors as you guides. Spectacular game viewing is combined with hikes around Lake Eyasi and the Ol Moti Crater, where you experience cultural encounters amongst the Masai, Datoga tribe and nomadic Bushmen.

The walking safari in Ngorongoro Conservation area is becoming very popular. Normally it is preceded with a short safari in 4 x 4 safari Land Rovers or Land Cruisers. Many people when they get to East Africa understandably want to see as much as possible and arrive with killer agendas ahead of them. I would advise restraint with the temptation to do too much in a short time. Safari fatigue can set in all too quickly with visitors reaching the halfway point in a safari and just longing for it all to end.

I would recommend some time spent at Lake Manyara, as you are able go out onto the lake in a two-man canoe and see the game from this unusual perspective. Also bicycles and village walking ‘cultural’ safaris are on offer. Take every chance you can to spend some time out of your safari vehicle. Stretch your legs and see Africa from as many perspectives as you can. There is much to experience and it cannot all be done from sitting on your bottom.

Remember, the most enjoyable experiences are not achieved quickly.

This walking safari has the added bonus of using Masai warriors as your guides. Donkeys, belonging to the Masia, are used as porters. The walking safari starts on the cool, forested rim of Ngorongoro crater and ends in the dry heat on the arid shores of Lake Natron, where temperature often exceed 40 c [105 f]. This soda lake is famed for the large number of flamingo that fly here to breed. Indeed the flamingo seems to be the only animal that flourishes in this harsh environment.

The highland walking safaris cover a rage of altitudes with the range rising steeply from the surrounding plains at about 1,500 meters to heights of between 2,500 and 3,500 meters. It is advisable to wear many layers of clothing as the temperatures will vary greatly. These safaris are quite energetic and a good level of fitness is required. The Crater Highlands range is roughly oval, measuring about 80 km by 40 km.

The Highlands are volcanic in origin, with the different peaks being created over millions of years by a series of eruptions connected with the formation of the Great Rift Valley. The older volcanoes have been eroded and most have collapsed to form craters.

Empakaai crater is 600 meters in diameter and 300 meters deep. With much of the base of the crater covered by a deep, 80 meter soda lake. Here there are birds, antelope, buffalo and blue monkeys, with the thickly forested walls plunging to the crater floor. If you wish to climb into the crater and explore, you will be required to be accompanied by an armed guide. The crater is heavily grazed by buffalo and the buffalo are notoriously anti-social and very aggressive. To catch the best Rift Valley views it is a must to be there at dawn or dusk, as the cloud cover can be heavy at other times. The familiar water birds to be spotted here include the black-winged stilt, cape teal and flamingo.

Ol Moti Crater can only be reached by foot and an armed ranger must accompany you. The scenery of Ol Moti is beautiful, with islands of forest and a waterfall at the source of the Munge River. Monkeys and buffalo are seen in the area.

The active volcano Ol Donyo Lengai standing at 2,878m is a popular way to end the walking safari. This volcano erupts every seven years or so. Here an early morning start essential. The climb is steep on powdery scree; therefore climbing the steep slopes on this very loose footing is neither easy nor enjoyable. The early morning start is to avoid the heat of the sun, for there is no shade on the mountain and together with the heat and lack of water makes this early start, in the pre dawn darkness, essential. This climb would only be recommended for the physically fit and for those with an interest in volcanoes, otherwise relax at the bottom and enjoy a well-earned rest and a cool drink.

Spain by car

While there are many different ways one can choose to travel through Spain, there is really nothing that compares to being in charge of the travel time and stops along the way. While many people prefer to save money and choose public transportation, they have little control of the stops, duration of stops and schedule of the transport. But if you really want to be able to experience a country, the best way is to do it by car. Once you have a car hire, you can tour the area on your own time, and make any stops in any locations for as long as you would like. You could even circle the roundabouts just enjoying the view. Many people fear driving in foreign countries and are worried they may not understand the driving atmosphere, but Spain is a very laid back country, and you will even be able to relax as you drive, when you see mountains and sparking waters all along your travel. If you have a love for souvenirs from your travels, a car has the added bonus of giving you somewhere to keep all your things. Also, if you are wandering through town and someone mentions a great place to go sight seeing you don’t have to worry about how to get there, you can go on your own.

Hiring a Car

Getting a car for your travels in Spain is very easy. There are a number of car hire companies that are offering their services to visitors staying in the region. If you are flying into a particular airport, you will likely be able to set up a car hire from a company that operates out of the airport terminal. If you prefer a car hire that is in town, they will often shuttle you from the airport to their location where you will pick up your vehicle. Since the car hire business has become very popular with visitors, there are a wide variety of vehicles that are available. For one person or a couple, you may prefer a sporty car that will allow the top to be put down as you travel across the countryside. If you have a larger group there are many larger vehicles that can accommodate families of all sizes.

Online Car Hire Deals

The best way to get a good deal on a car hire is to have the car hire set up long before you ever arrive in Spain. Many of the car hire companies are online and you can search through their offerings from your home computer. Many have special offers for particular vehicles or travel times. Take a look at all their specials and compare prices between companies. Also before you make a reservation, make sure the price you are seeing includes all taxes and other fees. Those can make a big difference in the end price of a car hire. To make things easier once you arrive in Spain, you can often take care of payment for the car and set up insurance and all the other aspects you need to deal with before you ever arrive by filling out all the information online.

How to maximize frequent flyer points

Today, even infrequent flyers are enrolled in one or more airline frequent flyer programs. With the volume of air travel reaching and surpassing pre-9/11 levels, more and more people are hitting the skies. This article provides some tips and tricks to maximize those frequent flyer miles given out by most airlines as a reward or incentive for flying their airline or within a given airline group.

First a brief history of the airline frequent flyer program. Two events were key to the creation of the frequent flyer program, deregulation in 1978 which created a marketing environment and computerization which created the necessary infrastructure to support these programs. Without these two events frequent flyer programs would be either unnecessary or impossible to implement. In May 1981, American Airlines introduced AAdvantage, the first frequent flyer program. The goal was to retain their best customers by rewarding them for their loyalty. The program tracked member’s miles flown, and provided incentives in the form of free flights and upgraded amenities. Today, there are more than 70 frequent flyer programs, with over 100 million members. Members receive over 10 million awards per year.

The keys to maximizing your frequent flyer awards are as follows:

1. Join the program - you can't accumulate miles if you're not a member, and there is generally no cost to join.

2. Consolidate - focus your travel on as few airlines as possible, so that your miles accrue in one account, and you attain elite levels faster. Also, be aware of any alliances that airlines have, which allows you to fly on one airline but credit the points to another airline.

3. Keep track of expiration dates - most frequent flyer programs expire miles after a period of time, usually 2-3 years after being granted.

4. Credit card promotions - airline credit cards are a popular way to put an extra 5-10,000 miles in your account when you sign-up, which on some airlines is 50% of a round trip ticket. As long as the credit card doesn't have an annual fee, this is a great way to close the gap on a free ticket. Plus some airline credit cards provide bonus miles for each flight.

5. Hotel and rental car accelerators - check hotel and rental car agreements, you can pick up extra frequent flyer miles based on where you stay on the car you rent.

6. Elite levels – Try to achieve and maintain elite levels with the programs. Besides other amenities such as upgrades and preferential boarding, elite levels frequently get bonus miles. If you're elite in one airlines program, one trick is to send a letter to another airline requesting a bump into their elite program. Most airlines will do this to get you hooked on their programs.

7. Leverage merchant partnerships - airlines have signed agreements with various merchants (e. g., FTD) to provide frequent flyer miles for purchasing partner products. Find out which merchants your airline has partnered with and adjust your spending.

In summary, the quickest way to a free flight isn't necessarily through the air. Make sure you focus your travel, if possible, with one or two airlines. And make sure you understand all of the partnerships that airline has entered into, so that your non-flight dollars can be channeled into that free ticket to the Bahamas.

Experience riding at star ferry

Officially named the Kowloon Ferry, the Star Ferry has been shuttling passengers between Hong Kong and the mainland for over 100 years. And although the surroundings have changed, the romance has stayed the same.

Until 1970, this was the only way to travel between the two destinations. In fact, it still is the only way to travel if you are looking for a scenic view with everything Victoria Harbor offers.

These days, the trip has some enclosed tunnels for roads and train tracks but there are still a lot of scenic views along the way. It takes about ten minutes to travel from Hong Kong Island’s Central District to Tsim Sha Tsui( a major tourist destination in Kowloon)

Before your journey to Hong Kong Islands, be sure to check out the 90 year old Victorian clock standing by the modern cultural center on Tsim Sha Tsui and at the dock there are preserved aging rickshaws that could be worth your while to examine.

The ferry boats are painted according to their designations. They make a colorful sight on the water. If you are lucky, you may board the Celestial Star, which was built in the 1950’s and is still going strong.

As the journey proceeds, you can see the Hong Kong skyline coming closer, a glorious sight by day or night. The Bank of China is distinct and narrow, easily spotted across the harbor as is the Victorian era Legislative Council building.

Other buildings to note include, the Stock Exchange building, and the geometric shape of the Shanghai Bank. You can also see the dome of the Space Museum and the out line of Harbor City, one of Hong Kong’s largest indoor shopping centers.

If you take the trip at night it would be an entirely different experience. The skyline of Hong Kong rivals Manhattan. To get the best view, make sure you sit on the top of the double decker boat.

The top deck is regarded as first class. It is fully air conditioned which you would be grateful for with Hong Kong’s hot and humid summer temperatures. The cost of the ride is about 2.20 HK or 28 US cents. If you prefer to be closer to the ocean and the humming of the engines, the lower deck will save you some pennies at the price of 1.70HK or 22 cents US.

The ferry service carries around 70,000 passengers a day. There is always one leaving every few minutes both ways so you’ll never have long to wait. There is a special ferry that takes about an hour to travel a circular route through all the islands of Kowloon.

When traveling the other direction from the island to Kowloon you can stop at Nathan Road, a major shopping destination near the ferry’s terminals. At the terminals, transportation is available. You can go by bus or taxi through Kowloon and the New Territories. The taxi is the better choice, if you are looking for an adventure through Hong Kong’s streets.

Never miss a cheap jamaica get away plan

The key to planning a vacation that will not empty out your pockets is research on vacation packages. It will not do to fly by the seat of your pants unless you have the resources to do it. Cheap Jamaica vacation packages are a boon for those who like to try new things, but they can be a horrific experience for the unprepared. A cheap get away plan is doable with just a little foresight.

While Jamaica islands is a place offering you the ideal vacation packages for the whole family to visit all year round, it would be best to visit from about May to November during off season. Cheap airfare is available at this time as well as accommodations (as much as $40 off) because few visitors come during this period. Weather conditions are usually the same but it is the rainfall you need to look out for, which is typically heaviest in May to June and October to November. If you do not mind getting wet, resorts would probably offer the best deals during this period.

All inclusive vacation packages are available, where one is free to lie under the sun and sip rum but there are other options open to those who may want to get more out of their vacation than a tan and a buzz. During the day, families can go rafting in Marthae Brae River for $45 for a 2-person raft or visit the Rosehall Great House for $15 per person. These are cheap vacation packages for you to unwind and free yourself from stress.

For single visitors or couples, local entertainment can run from stage shows to ballet, and of course reggae rules in much of the Jamaica islands. Rum shops, go-go clubs and jazz bars abound in almost any resort town, although Kingston has the best discos and bars, where the cover charge is zero on weeknights and not more than $5 on weekends. Cheap vacation packages that include stage shows are held in open-air venues, and this is a good place to get a feel of the Jamaica islands’ flair for flamboyance. The good ones feature performances by well-known reggae artists such as Beenie Man and Lady Saw. Smaller concerts, called sound system parties or jump-ups are impromptu, often held in remote areas where rival DJs strut their stuff in competition.

The kind for vacation packages you could enjoy is dependent not only on your budget, but on your motivation. If R and R is the prime objective, then resorts are admirably suited to provide this, especially in the off season. For immersion in the culture, a wider and more flexible itinerary is needed. Regardless, cheap vacation packages are available online for either type, just click and book.

Ten things to do during a holiday in greece

Greece, birthplace of the Olympics, is also a center civilization and knowledge from ancient times. That glorious tradition lives on today in the country’s modern culture. Each year more than fifteen million people vacation in Greece to experience the vibrant cities, the scenic countryside and the sun-soaked islands. If you would like to be one of them, here is a guide to help you discover Greece.

1. Any Greece vacation should begin with a trip to the Acropolis. It is the symbol of the nation so it is only polite of you to stop in and leave your card. At noon, you can stroll around the majestic Parthenon. When the sun goes down, be sure to watch the light show depicting the legends of the Olympic Gods.

2. Explore the ruins of Agora. Travel down the hill where the towering Acropolis stands, and into the valley where the philosophers Socrates and Plato did all their thinking. While there, you can hardly miss the looming temple built for Hephaestos.

3. Take a helicopter trip around Athens. Just hop a copter from your hotel and spend an exhilarating half hour swooping over the city’s major landmarks. Be sure to bring your camera!

4. Take in a match of the Hellenic National league, and finally see what they call ‘football’ and we call ‘soccer’. This is a good chance to take in modern Greek culture and see what people worship, now that the Olympic Gods are out of style.

5. Compete in the marathon that begot all marathons. Or, at least, try the route that the Olympic athletes ran the last time they were in town. Just remember not to drop dead upon finishing.

6. Make your trip to Greece a volunteer vacation. There are a lot of noble causes you can devote yourself to while visiting. Each summer, hundreds of volunteers help the organization monitor the nesting period of Greece’s Sea Turtles. You could also apply your carpentry, teaching or medical skills for good causes.

7. Tour the Greece’s Archaeological Museum. Greece is where history was invented, so of course the artifacts are unparalleled. Be sure to see the Mask of Agamemnon, once believed to be the death mask of the ancient king.

8. Take a hike through the Vindos Gorge. On a hot day, descent into the world’s deepest canyon can be rough going, but you’ll find yourself cooling off the farther down you go. When you get to the bottom, you will find plant species like no others on earth.

9. Sun yourself on the beaches of Crete and experience what other Europeans have known about for decades. The scenery is so beautiful, you can’t help but relax; during the day, that is. Come night, get ready to party at the island’s infamous clubs.

10. Experience the Rockwave Festival of music. For three days, you can have your choice of three stages: heavy metal, rock ‘n roll, or good old fashioned dance music. A great balance to Greece’s otherwise educational attractions.

France private holiday homes and vacation rentals versus hotels

Vacationing in France is a dream come true for so many Americans. Those who have French heritage often wish to see where their families originated. Those who have no French lineage still look upon France as one of the foundations of Western civilization. Reims, Poitiers, Montpellier, Marseille, Limoges, Lille, Caen, Bordeaux, Lyon, Dijon, Metz, Paris or Nice are all legendary to those of us raised in the "new world" and for many are simply places we’ve read about in our school books, or seen on television or in the movies. Many Americans, sadly, know little of the geography of France, but do appreciate the food. You have to try Mousse au Chocolate, Creme Brulee or Crepes. Only on a trip to France can a person really appreciate this magnificent country, home to Napoleon Bonaparte, Victor Hugo and Alexandre Dumas.

When you are ready for that once in a lifetime experience of an French vacation, consider a private home rental for your source of lodging. Hotels can be nice, but staying in a private home rented for the occasion can give you a chance to see the real France. Explore the countryside, walk into the village and visit with the residents, and see what it feels like to actually go home, to a cabin or villa at the end of the day, living as the French do. Or, try a beach house if that suits you or an apartment if you prefer a more urban setting. Getting to know the local people by living among them for an extended stay of a few weeks will give you a chance to learn some of the language, or if you already speak french to brush up on your skills. It will also give you a chance to learn local history in a very unique way, from the people themselves. You will appreciate all of the similarities of French culture with your own, and learn to appreciate the differences as well. The French are a wonderful, friendly people with a rich culture and history. Taking the time to live among them, getting to know them as friends and neighbors, is truly an experience you will always remember.

Private homes for rent to vacationers in France can be found in various price ranges. If you are looking for luxury, there are villas available. Go to Cannes! It is located in the Grasse region, in the department of the Alpes-Maritimes, Cannes owes its brilliant expansion to tourism. If something more rustic suits your taste and budget, then smaller homes and even old farmhouses are available to appeal to all tastes. Just as an example, one property includes two bedrooms, queen size beds, kitchen, laundry area, bathroom, central eat and the satellite television, telephone and VCR that most Americans are used to having. Imagine though the coziness and comfort of coming back to the house after a day of sight seeing to sit by the fire place, drinking a glass of a local wine, having a light dinner of pasta, and enjoying the peace and quiet of your surroundings. Staying in a hotel in a major city will certainly show you the tourist hot spots, but staying in a private home will show you the real France.

You can t go wrong with royal caribbean cruise ships

Royal Caribbean cruise ships sail beyond the Caribbean. The line has a total of five ship families, 22 ships currently sailing and several under construction. The Genesis, currently being built in Norway, will cost over a billion dollars and accommodate 5400 travelers. She's set to arrive in 2009.

But until the newest ship arrives, the world's second-largest cruise line has a wide range of ships to choose from. The Empress of the Seas is in a class by herself. The smallest of the Royal Caribbean cruise ships, she still has the ability to carry over 2,000 passengers. The ship visits over 100 ports of call, from Alaska to the Caribbean, Bermuda and Panama.

Slightly larger are the Sovereign family of ships. One these ships you'll find some of the amenities that were missing from the Empress, like conference centers, and more swimming pools and restaurants. You'll also notice more "elbow room" on a Sovereign ship, and slightly larger cabins.

The Vision family of ships has six members. These ships are medium-sized, and designed to go almost anywhere—and they do. The Caribbean, Bermuda, Europe. . . even a transatlantic cruise are all popular destinations and all served by the Vision family. These ships are very versatile, and their destination, length, and departure port offerings all reflect that.

The Radiance Family of ships offers slightly larger deck plans and these ships can carry more people. You'll also see an upgrade of the ship itself and amenities on this class of ship. Glass elevators carry you up and down the decks, and the nine-story Centrum and glass solarium allow you to see the beauty of Nature passing by. And speaking of Nature, the Radiance family of ships uses gas-turbine engines, the most ecologically friendly out there.

Next up is the Voyager Family with five ships. At over 1,000 feet, these are very large ships. These ships sail to Bermuda, the Caribbean, the Bahamas, and even transatlantic crossings. These are the ships with the legendary ice skating rinks on them. There are, of course, the rock-climbing wall, fitness center, several swimming pools and hot tubs, and restaurants and bars galore.

And finally, the "big daddy" of cruise ships, at least until the newest one arrives. The Freedom family is Royal Caribbean's largest family of cruise ships. Weighing in at 160,000 tons, you might wonder how she floats. But float she does, all 1,112 feet of her.

Aboard one of the Freedom family of ships (the Freedom of the Seas, the Independence of the Seas, or the Liberty of the Seas) you'll find the first-ever shipboard surf park. A waterpark, boxing ring, and wireless internet service throughout the ship will keep you entertained and connected.

There are flat-screen televisions in every stateroom, restaurants ranging from casual pizzerias to formal dining areas, and sports of every imaginable sort. Typically sailing from Florida (Miami or Ft. Lauderdale) these ships primarily sail the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.  However, transatlantic crossings are made once or twice a year, so if you fall in love with these ships as so many people do, you may want to opt for a longer voyage.

There certainly is variety in your choice of Royal Caribbean cruise ships, and your options for onboard activities are even broader. Especially if you're one of the more active cruisers, this may be the cruise for you!
